📅 Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Altitude: 1,500m to 2,514m
Distance: ~10 km
Time: 4–6 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest

After park registration at Momella Gate, begin the trek through lush rainforest with chances to spot giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys. Enjoy lunch en route and reach Miriakamba Hut by evening.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Altitude: 2,514m to 3,570m
Distance: ~8 km
Time: 3–5 hours
Habitat: Heath and Moorland

Today’s hike ascends steadily through open forest to the Saddle Hut below Little Meru. Optionally, take a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for stunning views of Kilimanjaro.

Day 3: Summit Attempt – Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak, then down to Momella Gate

Altitude: 3,570m to 4,566m (summit) then down to 1,500m
Distance: ~18 km
Time: 10–12 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert to Forest

Begin your summit push around 2 AM with headlamps. Ascend steep trails and ridges to reach the dramatic crater rim and summit at Socialist Peak (4,566m) by sunrise. After photos and celebrations, descend all the way back to Momella Gate for transfer to your lodge.
